Obesity Risks

Posted in uncategorized with tags , , , , , on October 12, 2020 by andelino

Obese people are 48 per cent more likely to die of Covid-19 than people of a healthy weight, according to research.

Obesity carries a number of risks when it comes to the Coronavirus, but according to a new study when a COVID vaccine is finally developed it may not work on those “corpulent” people.

If Stacey Abrams and Jerry Nadler want the COVID vaccine to work they may want to start hitting the gym instead of that “all you can eat” $5 buffet.

Scientists looked at medical data to find that being severely overweight also raised the risk of hospitalization more than double (113 per cent). People were also 74 per cent more likely to end up in intensive care if they were obese, the study added.

Scientists said excessive sugar in the blood and swelling in blood vessels, which are more common in overweight people, interfere with immune cells and mean fat people can’t fight off infection as well.

They are also harder to treat in intensive care because the weight of their bodies means ventilators don’t work as well, the researchers added.

And while the odds are naturally stacked against overweight people who catch Covid-19, the same researchers warned that a vaccine might not work as well on them for the same reasons “that their immune systems are compromised.”

This means millions of people who most need protection from the virus may not get it as well as others. 40 per cent of Americans are obese.

The researchers, who were commissioned by the World Bank, said there was nothing to suggest the vaccine wouldn’t work at all but that scientists should be aware it could be less effective.

The warning was made by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in a paper exploring the link from obesity to Covid-19 complications.

“We are not saying that the vaccine will be ineffective in populations with obesity. But rather that obesity should be considered as a modifying factor to be considered for vaccine testing. Even a less protective vaccine will still offer some level of immunity,” said Professor Melinda Beck, an author of the study.

Professor Beck and her colleagues suggested that scientists trialing experimental vaccines should consider whether people in the trials are obese and whether this affects the jab’s effectiveness. “It is urgent that any vaccine trials and studies include BMI [body mass index] as a potential con-founder for vaccine effectiveness and protection.”

There are dozens of vaccine attempts being developed around the world right now, with many already in human trials.

Some of the leading options have been developed by scientists in Britain, with one developed by Oxford University already sold hundreds of millions of times to international governments.

Professor Beck and her team explained that obesity, defined as when someone has a body mass index (BMI) higher than 30, makes the immune system weaker.

High blood sugar, inflammation and insulin resistance – which affects the ability the control blood sugar – all contribute to this.

Inflammation, a type of internal swelling which can be ongoing in overweight and unhealthy people, may drain the immune system’s energy because it is constantly trying to stop it damaging the body, scientists have explained in the past.

Because of this, corpulent people’s immune systems can be more active than usual even when someone isn’t ill, which means they have fewer resources when someone actually does get an infection.

In the study the North Carolina team said obesity “has been shown to impair the development of immunological memory”.

Illinois Governor J.P. “Jay” Pritzker

They said that people with excess body fat had weaker immunity after a flu vaccine and were twice as likely to still get the flu or flu-like illness despite the jab.

Past research looking at antibodies – virus-fighting molecules made by the immune system – found that although they were similar 30 days after a flu jab, “wane significantly more in adults with obesity” over the course of a year.

They also did not produce certain other types of immune cells, known as T cells, as effectively. This impaired immune response could also be what makes obese people more likely to get severely ill or die if they catch Covid-19, the scientists added.

Their review found that people with a BMI over 30 were 113 per cent more likely to end up in hospital, 74 per cent more likely to need intensive care, and 48 per cent more likely to die than people of a healthy weight.

Professor Beck added: “Individuals with obesity are also more likely to experience physical ailments that make fighting this disease harder, such as sleep apnea, which increases pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure in the lungs, or a body mass index that increases difficulties in a hospital setting with incubation.”

A separate study published by University College London scientists this month found that being obese could increase the chance of someone developing Covid-19 by up to 240 per cent – more than triple.

This, they suggested, may explain why Western countries such as the UK and US have been so devastated by the virus compared to Asian nations.

Obesity is much more common in wealthier countries where junk food and office work is widespread.

And an official report by Public Health England suggested obese people could be three times as likely to die as people who are a healthy weight.

Experts behind the report said “every kilo” of bodyweight people lost would reduce their risk of being admitted to hospital with the virus.

It came as Prime Minister Boris Johnson, himself overweight, ordered a “national anti-obesity strategy” following his near-fatal brush with the virus in April.

The PM ended up in intensive care in an NHS hospital in London at the peak of the outbreak and has since conceded that his weight may have made his illness worse.

The University of North Carolina  study was published today in the scientific journal Obesity Reviews.

Put The Burger Down America, The Secret To Our Covid-19 Crisis Is That You’re Too Fat

Underlying Illnesses

Posted in uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on June 2, 2020 by andelino

The raw data speaks “volumes” about the overall “condition” of society as a whole. A new study of “hospitalized” covid-19 patients in New York City has revealed that the overwhelming majority suffer from “underlying illnesses.”

The study, published by Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) looked at data from 5,700 people hospitalized with the highly infectious disease. It found that 94 percent had at least one “underlying illness.”

The most common disease was “hypertension” and “high blood pressure.” It affected about 53 percent of all patients. Next was “obesity”, affecting 42 percent of all patients, and “diabetes”, affecting 32 percent. Also, 88 percent of the patients suffered from “more than one” of these underlying illnesses.

These are not “novel” illnesses in America. According to the “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention” 108 million American adults suffer from “hypertension.” That is approximately half of all American adults, and a third of the total population.

In 2017, “high blood pressure” resulted in the death of more than 472,000 people. That translates to about 1,300 deaths a day.

About 26 percent of the world’s population suffers from “hypertension.” That is just shy of 1 billion people on the entire planet. This number is expected to increase as countries continue to develop, reaching about 2.2 billion in four years.

According to Medscape, hypertension was the number one preventable reason for death worldwide in 2013.

Hypertension increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, the two leading causes of deaths for Americans. Recently, covid-19 overtook both to become the leading “killer” in America. But the evidence shows that the underlying cause of heart disease, stroke and covid-19 is the same.

“Hypertension, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and covid-19” all have the same underlying cause. Dr. Robert Lustig a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of California–San Francisco concluded that “sugar”, more than any other substance, is to blame. In a 2013 interview with CNN, he said that “obesity, type-2 diabetes, hypertension and heart disease” are all linked to sugar.

“The American lifestyle is killing us,” he said, “and 75 percent of it is preventable.”

The world today is “clamoring” for a vaccine, a pill or scientifically derived solution to this pandemic. Big government has mobilized “unconstitutional” solutions in an effort to fight this disease. Trillions of dollars have been poured into trying to counteract its effects. And even more are being poured into medical science to find a cure.

But covid-19 is not of itself especially “unique or harmful.” And so, these efforts will ultimately prove “futile” in effectively solving the problem. Rather, as the JAMA study shows, it will continue “growing and spreading” as rapidly as it is because the American “lifestyle and diet” have created a fertile base for it to mushroom.

The main driving agent behind rising levels of “hypertension, obesity and heart disease” is the total amount of added “sugar intake” by young and old. Foods such as “soda, cookies, cakes, energy drinks, ice cream and cereal” are the biggest sources of added sugar in the average American diet.

And according to the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, over 80 percent of “toddlers and infants” consume added sugars in their diets every day, as opposed to the recommended amount of zero. This is creating an “unhealthy” lifestyle in people from a very young age.

There needs to be a change. “A proper response to this covid-19 crisis should be, What can we do? What can I personally do to improve my underlying health condition? What can I do to strengthen my immune system so that I’m not as susceptible to disease, whether it’s covid-19 or the annual flu?”

The main reason our overall physical health is deteriorating is because “we assume that sickness is natural and necessary.” In reality “a cold or fever is merely a sudden violent elimination of toxins and poisons that you have injected into your body by wrong diet, which has broken God’s physical laws.”

In Luke 5: 24, Jesus Christ healed a man sick of the palsy, saying, “But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. So he said to the paralyzed man, I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”

This incident, reported in all three books of Matthew, Mark and Luke, confirms, in the words of Jesus Christ Himself, that physical healing is indeed “the forgiveness of sin.” Sin is defined as the “transgression of law.” (1 John 3:4) “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.”

The underlying cause of “sickness” is breaking physical laws. Today’s society habitually breaks these laws through its inordinate intake of “unhealthy and sugary” foods. And the penalty for breaking those laws is sickness.

The government and health-care systems in place focus only on the effect of sickness. But the cause is often ignored! In the Bible, God emphasizes cause and effect: “blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience to His law.” (Deuteronomy 28:15).

But in the world, it is all about the effect, the “band-aid, the drug, the vaccine.” We continue to pour more and more money into “nullifying” the effect. Instead of plugging up the hole in the bucket, we decide to pour more water in, expecting it to stop leaking.

But the real solution lies in repentance, which leads to the forgiveness of our sins. God promises to heal upon our repentance. Psalm 103:2-3 says “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”

Just as the man with “palsy” was healed, we too can be healed today. God wants us to live healthy, abundant lives (John 10:10). We must repent and ask God for forgiveness of our sins. In today’s society, so conditioned to a “sugar-packed diet” that leaves us susceptible to disease, this can be extremely difficult.

God’s will is for us to lead a life of quality in every respect, including that of physical health. This is why He has outlined definite laws of health within the pages of His inspired Word, the Holy Bible.

Start obeying these practical laws today and reap the wonderful benefits of a robust and healthy physical life!

Black Female Obesity

Posted in uncategorized with tags , , , , on November 12, 2019 by andelino

Reaching the pinnacle of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” a fat black professor of gender studies blames President Trump for “black female obesity.”

Britney Cooper, who sports a PhD from Emory University is currently an associate professor in the “Department of Women’s and Gender Studies” at Rutgers University. With that sort of background, perhaps it isn’t surprising to eternalize blame for “obesity and racism” on President Trump as the cause of black female obesity.

During a “Black Women OWN”  television conversation on Oprah Winfrey’s Network (OWN) Cooper hysterically cried:

“I hate when people talk about Black women being obese. I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn’t create. We are living in the Trump era. And look, those policies kill our people. You can’t get access to good health care, good insurance.”

The moderator and the audience all enthusiastically accepted the rant that white people in general and President Trump in particular are what make a disproportionate number of black women obese.

Strange, I don’t remember seeing all these skinny black women walking around during the eight years under Obama?

I think I would have noticed a bunch of slender, well-toned women, no matter what color they were, suddenly plumping up to huge proportions in November 2016?

Would this “getting obese” be like “Just add water” or elect Donald Trump as President and BAM! “Instant Chubby Brittney Cooper!”

Hopefully, instead of Brittney Cooper reaching for her bags of “Doritos” to combat her “Post traumatic stress disorder” (PTSD), she could get some exercise while at the same time going Vegan.

It’s the best of both worlds. Who could ask for anything more than that?

While this is all funny, it is also tragic. Obesity” is unhealthy and unhappy to endure. But “blaming” others doesn’t ever lead to change in a “positive” direction.

Dear Fat People

Dear Fat People 01

Is “fat-shaming” a bad thing?

Nicole Arbour doesn’t “believe” so, and she’s taking “heat” from celebrities who argue it’s not “only” a problem, but it actually “drives” people to commit suicide.

Nicole is a Canadian “comedian” who uploads video “rants” to Facebook and YouTube. She has a combined “following” of more than 500,000 people.

Arbour uploaded a “controversial” YouTube video titled “Dear Fat People,” which has been viewed more than 21 million times, in which she “criticized and derided” people for being overweight.

It caused an Internet “stir” after she questioned why “obesity” is labeled as a “disease.”

Here are a few of her “controversial” remarks:

“Fat-shaming is not a thing. Fat people made that up.”
“You are killing yourself.”
“Yeah, but I couldn’t fit into a store, that’s discrimination. Uh, no. That means you’re too fat. You should stop eating.”
“If we offend you so much that you lose weight, I’m OK with that…I’ll sleep at night.”
“Are you gonna tell the doctor that they’re being ‘mean’ and fat-shaming you when they say you have fucking heart disease?”
“Obesity is a disease? Yeah, so is being a shopaholic.”

The video “garnered” a half-million views before the comedian said it was “temporarily” shut down by YouTube.

Arbour said she received an email from Google “warning” her about violating its terms, per CNN, and claimed to be “the first comedian in the history of @YouTube to be #censored.”

Dear Fat People 03

We literally broke the Internet… with comedy. #censorship,” she tweeted.

Arbour shut down the comments on her page, saying “It means that I don’t give a fuck what u have 2 say.”

Whitney Thore

Whitney Way Thore, star of US reality show “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” said fat-shaming was the “spawn of a larger problem called body shaming” that she was sure “everyone on the planet” had experienced.

She weighed in on Nicole Arbour’s video in her own response posted to YouTube “What I want to say to Fat People”:

“The next time you see a fat person, you don’t know whether that person has a medical condition that causes them to gain weight,” Thor continued, who said her weight gain was due to “polycystic ovarian syndrome.”

“You don’t know their mother just died. You don’t know if they’re depressed or suicidal or if they just lost 100 pounds. You don’t know,” she added.

Dear Fat People 08

Comedian Shawn Halpin response to “Dear Fat People” video…

Grace Helbig, one of YouTube’s vloggers, said the comedian’s comments had been “selfish and mean.”

“Comedy can be a really powerful tool,” she said. “I wish that we could use it more respectfully. I wish we could just respect each other as human beings.”

“The more you just say whatever you want with disregard to people’s feelings, the less I as a viewer consider you as a comedian, I just consider you as kinda mean.”

Singer Meghan Tonjes said the video was “harmful” adding “I know what it’s like to sit there as a teenage girl and see something like that.”

Plus-size model Tess Holliday also commented on Arbour’s remarks, saying “Fat shaming doesn’t save lives, it kills them.”

Vlogger skagg3 defended Ms Arbour: “I don’t go on some censorship parade trying to put tape over people’s mouths, because I value the free exchange of ideas more than I value my own personal feelings.”

Is “fat-shaming” indeed a bad thing? You be the “judge and jury.”

First Dogs Sunny and Bo

First Dogs 05

The portrait of the sixteenth president of the United States, “Abraham Lincoln,” was removed from its location at the “White Mosque” in favor of an image of the Obama’s Portuguese Water Dogs “Sunny and Bo.”

First Dogs 00

The “decision” was made by the First Lady Michelle Obama who was not “shy” in saying why she had the “portrait” removed.

“It just always bothered me, every single time I walked by it. It looks like some creepy old malnourished white guy with sunken cheeks and bad posture. That’s nothing to be proud of, and honestly it sets a bad example. It’s not like the guy has done anything for us recently anyways. He’s been dead for like what? Three hundred years now? At least with Sunny and Bo up there it makes the room a little more warm and inviting instead of some dark picture of some dead white guy.”

First Dogs 03

The new location of the “Abraham Lincoln” portrait is still to be determined but for now it will go to “storage” until a new place can be determined.

Along with Lincoln, the portraits of Arthur, Cleveland, Harrison, and Taft will also be removed because they were “deemed” to be glorifying “obesity” instead “anorexia” as outlined in the comprehensive initiative “Let’s Move” launched by FLOTUS.

First Dogs 04

“Who wants pictures of fat old white guys in their home anyways, it’s disturbing and I shouldn’t have to look at it” Michelle quipped in reference to the other “presidential” portraits.

What will “replace” the other portraits is still to be determined but in the mean time the Obama’s were “hanging” dogs playing cards, until something more “appropriate” can be found.

For those dog lovers who are interested in learning how to “French” kiss Portuguese Water Dogs, Michelle Obama released the “School of French Kissing for Dogs” video from the White Mosque archives.

For those American who have “drooling”  or “slobbering” dogs take “pride” in that you not only get a “kiss” but also a “drink” at the same time.

Heavenly Residence 00

Former New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg believes he’s going “straight” to heaven after working to eliminate “smoking, obesity,” and his efforts to “promote gun control.”

Heavenly Residence 01

Here’s the full context of Bloomberg’s heaven quotation:

“Mr. Bloomberg was introspective as he spoke, and seemed both restless and wistful. When he sat down for the interview, it was a few days before his 50th college reunion. His mortality has started dawning on him, at 72. And he admitted he was a bit taken aback by how many of his former classmates had been appearing in the “in memoriam” pages of his school newsletter. But if he senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

As for the “gun control” push, Bloomberg wants gun rights advocates to “fear” him.

He plans to spend $50 million this year building a nationwide “grass-roots network” to motivate low information voters who feel strongly about “curbing” gun violence, an organization he hopes can eventually “out muscle” the National Rifle Association.

“We’ve got to make them afraid of us,” he said.

Bloomberg plans to merge his “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” and “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America” into a new group called “Every town for Gun Safety.”

Heavenly Residence 03

Maybe the four “blood moons” encouraged Michael to do some “soul” searching of “late” to purchase a “heavenly residence” in the great hereafter.

Has “communism” added a touch of “deism” to its Jewish “atheism” as a sort of “insurance” policy?

Heavenly Residence 05

Since Bloomberg is a “non-believing” Jew he must be “quoting” the Old Testament.

I think the New Testament application is “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven,” unless he donates heavily to gun control.

This should at least dispel the “outdated” belief that you can’t “buy” your way into heaven.

According to the Bible, Jesus died for “sinners” who didn’t have enough money to “purchase” heaven on their own.

Heavenly Residence 02

Sorry Michael, I don’t believe the “Apostle of Affluence” theory.

Heavenly Residence 04

Now, go in “peace” and spread your “gospel” to the “one” percenter.

Penile Prosthesis

Posted in sex with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 31, 2011 by andelino

According to Dr. Mark Allen, a Plano, Texas urologist “Erectile dysfunction is a problem common in men as they age. It’s a silent problem that doesn’t have to be kept silent. There is treatment for erectile dysfunction and men should explore all of their options before settling on living with a condition they believe is helpless.”

Erectile dysfunction is termed as the inability to obtain or maintain an erection as is necessary for sexual satisfaction, also called impotence. The severity of the dysfunction varies from one man to another. One man may be able to achieve but not maintain an erection while another may not be able to obtain an erection at all. The variety of severity, and under diagnoses due to a man’s embarrassment about the issue make it hard to establish just how common erectile dysfunction is. But keeping these variables in mind, doctors have still estimated that erectile dysfunction affects 30 million men in the United States.

It is possible for erectile dysfunction to affect a man at any age, but it is pretty uncommon among men less than 40 years of age and only 5% of the national average reflects men of this age group. At age 45-50 the statistic jumps to 15%. Erectile dysfunction affects 20% of men 50-55, and 50% of men between 70-80 years of age.

Erectile dysfunction is an issue that occurs commonly as men age, but there are a few medical factors that can cause it to become more severe, or to strike at an earlier age. Urologists state that factors such as lack of physical activity, excessive alcohol intake, obesity, and smoking directly affect the onset and severity of erectile dysfunction.

Regardless of what can be done to ward off the occurrence of erectile dysfunction, in some cases it is inevitable. The first and most important step to battling this issue is to see your urologist. You may be in early enough stages to treat your impotence with medication. Urologists commonly prescribe medication such as Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis, which are taken orally and may help receive an erection.

If the stage of your impotence is beyond medication then you and your doctor may decide to talk about implant treatment for erectile dysfunction. For patients with moderate to severe erectile dysfunction there is an option to receive a penile prosthesis.

A penile prosthesis is surgically implanted in a careful surgery and has been proven to help a man regain his ability to achieve an erection. There are currently two types of penile prosthesis, the semi-rigid non-inflatable, and the inflatable. The semi-rigid is a series of flexible rods that are surgical implanted to support the penis. With these rods, the man is able to manually place the penis in the upward position for intercourse, or downward for daily activities.  The inflatable prosthesis is more complex, but also more successful. With an inflatable penile prosthesis, a pump filled with liquid is placed inside the scrotum. Then a reservoir is placed inside the penis. When a man is ready to receive an erection his simply squeezes the scrotum, and the liquid is transferred to the reservoir inside the penis which causes an erection. When the man is ready to deflate the erections he presses a release valve which returns the liquid to the pump.

Urologist Dr. Allen has a number of penile prosthesis’ to choose from. After careful consideration the decision is between the two of you to decide which option is the best for you.
