Gun Violence

Posted in uncategorized with tags on April 24, 2022 by andelino

The only way to find the solution is to identify the real underlying cause.

Six people were killed and 12 more were wounded in a mass shooting in downtown Sacramento, California, on April 3. It matched the deadliest mass shooting of the year, and it was the worst in Sacramento’s history—but not by much.

There have been other mass shootings already this year, totaling to at least 108 so far. In February, a man shot and killed four people, three of which were his daughters, before killing himself in suburban Sacramento. In one weekend, nine mass shootings took place across seven American states between March 18 and 20. Eight people were killed and 60 were injured.

What Second Amendment?

What Second Amendment 03

Obama “doesn’t” want to talk about why strict gun laws don’t reduce gun violence, but he has much to say about “why” we should “regulate” guns like automobiles.

Speaking at a PBS NewsHour town hall in Indiana, Obama was asked a “thoughtful, nuanced” question by a man in the audience about “gun control.”

What Second Amendment 02

His question is worth “quoting in full” because Obama not only artfully “dodges” the substance of the question but “ignores” the salient example the questioner gives about why “gun control laws” don’t seem to “work in places” with the strictest measures:

“Why do you and Hillary want to control and restrict gun manufacturers, gun owners, and the responsible use of guns and ammunition to the rest of us, the good guys, instead of holding the bad guys accountable for their actions? And Mr. President if I may, I’d like to use Chicago, your home town, a city that has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, a city that for decades, and still is, under Democratic control, a city that has an outrageous an even embarrassing murder rate, as my first example. Why can’t we round up these thugs, these drugs dealers and gang members and hold them accountable for their actions, or allow the good people in Chicago access to firearms to protect themselves?”

Obama’s answer was both “defensive and dissembling.”

He begins by “imputing” an argument to the questioner that was “never” made, that Obama simply wants to “confiscate” guns.

“At no point have I ever proposed confiscating guns from responsible gun owners,” the president says.

What Second Amendment 04
That’s not to say one couldn’t make an “argument” that in fact Obama and Hillary Clinton have both proposed “gun” confiscation. After the Charleston “church massacre” last summer, Obama cited Australia’s “gun control reforms” of the 1990s as an example that America should follow. He did so again after the Oregon community “college shooting” last fall.

What were those Australian “gun control measures?”

A “ban” on semi-automatic and automatic rifles and shotguns, and a “mandatory” buy-back program for the newly “banned” weapons. What was the “penalty” in Australia for not handing over your previously “legal” firearms to the government? “Arrest and criminal conviction with up to 12 months in prison.”

By any reasonable measure, that’s a confiscatory gun control regime, and Obama has publically “called for it” in the United States.

But that’s not what the man “was asking about.” He was asking why Obama “supports” gun control measures that haven’t “curtailed gun violence” in places like Chicago. He never got an answer.

Instead, Obama “rambled” on about how we require people to get a “driver’s license” before they can drive a car, and how “regulating” auto manufacturers—requiring “seat belts, air bags, etc.”—have reduced “auto” fatalities. The president mused, “Why don’t we treat this like every other thing that we use?”

Because, Mr. President, every “other” thing we use isn’t “protected” by an amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

What Second Amendment 05

On this point Obama is either “confused” or he just doesn’t “believe” the Second Amendment “protects” an individual’s right to “keep and bear arms,” which was affirmed in 2008 by the U.S. Supreme Court “decision” in District of Columbia v. Heller.

It’s unlikely Obama would ever “repudiate” Heller outright, since the vast majority of Americans “agree” that the 2nd Amendment “guarantees” an individual’s right to “own” a gun. But it’s a reasonable assumption given the “kinds of gun control measures” he has called for.

The same goes for Clinton, who couldn’t bring herself to say that an “individual’s right to bear arms was a constitutional right” during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

At the very least, Obama thinks we should “regulate” guns like automobiles. He then sets up a straw man, saying, “We are not allowed to do any of that when it comes to guns because if you propose anything, it is suggested that we’re trying to wipe away gun rights and impose tyranny and martial law.”

What Second Amendment 06

Setting aside the president’s “hyperbole” here, it’s not hard to see how “regulating” guns like automobiles would necessarily lead to a “repudiation” of the Second Amendment, or how a “mandatory” buy-back program on the Australian model would “impose” a kind of tyranny insofar as it would turn otherwise “law-abiding” citizens into criminals.

Obama’s “true” opinion of the Second Amendment came out when he “explained” how American citizens who are known to have visited ISIS websites—“ISIL sympathizers”—can be placed on a no-fly list, “but because of the National Rifle Association, I cannot prohibit those people from buying a gun.”

No, Mr. President, you can’t “prohibit” American citizens who haven’t been “convicted” of a crime from “buying” a gun because of the “Second Amendment,” not the NRA.

Not once does Obama “breathe” a word about Chicago, where the “murder” rate has increased by 72 percent compared with last year. In the first three months of 2016, shootings there were up 88 percent compared to the previous year.

Chicago only begrudgingly allowed “conceal and carry permits” after the Illinois Legislature passed a “concealed carry law” in 2013, and that happened only after the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the “state’s previous ban on carrying a weapon in public was unconstitutional.”

Even with that law, however, as of November 2015 only 136,920 Illinoisans have a “concealed carry license,” in part because of byzantine rules “restricting” who can obtain a license and where they can carry.

Of course, all those rules are “ignored” by the Chicago murderous “gangs” responsible for most of the “black-on-black” gun violence in that city.

But don’t “bother” asking the president about it. He is not interested in “hearing” it.

What Second Amendment 01

He will not be “pinned” down by any document written by “dead white slave owners,” and will go to any means to dismiss his gun control lies.

Chi-Raq

Chi-Raq 01

In an interview actress Angela Bassett suggested some Chicago “leaders” are having trouble with Spike Lee’s film “Chi-Raq” because they are embarrassed by the “gun” violence in their city.

“Chi-Raq” is a nickname given to Chicago because the “violence” in parts of the city is reminiscent of a “war zone” like Iraq.

According to The Wrap, Bassett said the “bloodshed” in Chicago’s black communities is “completely and utterly wasteful, shameful, hurtful to the core.”

She said that Lee is “trying” to use his movie “to just bring some awareness….it’s a good picture, it’s very positive.”

Bassett said she had not heard “Chi-Raq” used as a nickname for Chicago prior to being involved in the film, but says she now understands it serves a “nickname for Chicago based on what’s been going on in the community with young black men, children…innocent bystanders dying because of gang violence, and…more black folks dying than in the Iraq war.”

Chicago Carnage 05

She indicated that many Chicago leaders are not “happy” with the fact that Lee’s film shines a “light” on Chicago gun violence.

But she said the “truth” must be told.

“Sometimes you don’t want those outside the family to know that’s what’s going on, but it’s something that needs to be known,” she said.

“When you get down to it, Spike loves his community. He loves film making, so it’s going to be a positive thing. It’s for the good.”

Chicago Carnage 07

Lee said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel made the filming of “Chi-Raq” as difficult as possible.

Emanuel was “a bully” who did not want Lee to “portray” things as they really are in Chicago.

He said Emanuel “summoned” him to City Hall for a meeting, but it did not “dissuade” him.

Instead, Lee said, “He’s not gonna bully me. My tactic with the mayor–any bully–is to come out swinging.”

Chicago Killings 01

As of November 23, there had been 2703 “shootings” which resulted in 440 “deaths” year-to date in heavily “gun-controlled” Chicago.

That is an “increase” of approximately 400 shootings over the same “time” last year.

The Chicago Tribune reported these numbers as part of their “broader” coverage of the 11 people shot, five “killed,” over the course of last weekend alone.

Half of those “wounded”were shot on November 22 “between about 12:25 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.” Three of those “killed”were shot on that same day, between those same “hours” as well.

Chicago Carnage 06

It is worth noting that while this violence proves the “impotency” of gun control in general, it is especially “damning” when juxtaposed with some of the most recent “gun control” endeavors in particular.

For example, Chicago implemented a “violence tax” at suburban Cook County gun stores in April 2013. The tax is gathered on “each gun and bullet” sold within the county.

Then, in 2014, the first full calendar year after the “implementation” of the tax, the Chicago Tribune reported 434 deaths, a 19 death “increase” over 2013.

As the “carnage” among black young men in Chicago “escalates” no leftists or race “agitators” seem to care.

The ongoing large scale “slaughter” in Chicago goes largely “unremarked” among the “demonstrators” or “national” media.

Chicago Violence

At least 56 people were shot over Memorial Day weekend between “Friday afternoon and early Tuesday morning,” according to authorities.

Twelve people, including three shot Monday afternoon, “died” from their wounds. Twelve others shot between late Monday morning and early Tuesday morning “survived” their gunshot wounds, bringing the total of “non-fatal” gunshot victims for the weekend to 44.

No “race” is mentioned for any of the “victims,” but based on past data, nearly all are “black,” for it is black neighborhoods that most “shootings” have been occurring.

Chicago Carnage 03

And unlike any police-involved shootings: “No one was in custody for any of the attacks, and police were investigating.”

Make no mistake. Something very “evil” is taking place in Chicago, a city completely “run” by Democrats for two generations.

The evil is on a “larger” scale, but it is similar to what is taking place “across” America among young “black” men raised in mostly “fatherless” homes.

The “rage” that consumes these young males “deprived” of fathers is understandable, and it can be “remedied” only by a society and culture “unafraid” to condemn drive-by “fatherhood” and the women who make it so “easy and attractive” for males to behave this way.

US Government Statistics

While only 13.2 % of the American population is black:

67% of black households are single parent
72% of all black babies born out of wedlock
50% of all black kids don’t finish high school
52% of all violent juvenile crimes are committed by blacks
45% of all drug offenses are committed by blacks
85% of all violent interracial crimes are committed by blacks
79% of all robberies are committed by blacks
80% of all shootings are committed by blacks
59% of all murders are committed by blacks
49% of all murder victims are black
93% of all black murder victims are murdered by another black
33% of all crimes are committed by 3% of the population; blacks between the ages of 16 and 36.

Chicago Carnage 00

But that is not “happening,” because the people “within” the back community who have the “standing and resources” to mobilize demonstrations and outrage prefer a “stance of victim-hood” at the hands of whites, and make a handsome “living” from it.

Now, as of November 23, the Tribune shows “440 deaths” with over a month “left to go” in calendar year 2015.

That means the death toll from “gun violence” in Chicago through November 2015 has already “exceeded” the death toll for all of 2014.

Spike Lee‘s film “Chi-Raq” is set to arrive in theaters just as Chicago makes “headlines” for continuous “horrifying” shootings.

“Chi-Raq,” a modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes, is set against the backdrop of “soaring” gang violence in Chicago.

The Amazon Studios “release” debuts on December 4th in “select” theaters, and will then be available on Amazon Instant Video shortly thereafter.

Chi-Raq 02

Trust Issues
by Charlie Daniels

I can tell from my correspondence that there are a lot of people in America who believe that the “gun control” measures President Obama is asking for are reasonable and will be effective in curbing “gun violence” in this nation, even though they come nowhere near addressing the “root of the problem.”

There are also a lot who approve his “paying their fair share” policies and applaud the tax increases on citizens earning over four hundred thousand dollars a year, even though these measures are a “drop in the bucket” in attacking the ridiculous mountain of debt America has foolishly accumulated.

There are those who see his efforts at a “comprehensive immigration” policy as a humanitarian gesture, even though it will add millions to the “entitlement roles” and to the Democratic Party electorate.

Then there are those like me who wouldn’t trust the “executive, legislative or judicial branches” of government as far as we could “throw” a fully loaded Greyhound bus.

We have been “sold out” by all of them and they have given us little “valid reason” to believe anything they say, or to “trust” any action they take.

Our entire federal government has turned into a “corrupt, self-proliferating, defunct debating” society which sits in their ivory towers and pontificates, telling America how they are going to “solve our problems,” but are more concerned with how they are “perceived by the public” on the Sunday morning news shows than doing anything meaningful.

How can you trust a “jaded” political hack like Harry “the surge has failed, the war is lost” Reid to fix the economy when he will not even do his constitutionally mandated “duty” of passing a federal budget?

How can you trust John Boehner when he “caves” in to Democratic pressure and doesn’t stand by the conservative “principles” he is supposed to embrace?

How can you trust a president who acts more like a “king” than a president, who “arrogantly” says that if congress doesn’t do what he wants he’ll take “executive action” to achieve his goals and covers up catastrophes like “Fast and Furious” and the “murder” of four Americans in Benghazi?

The reason so many people are not willing to go along with any kind of “gun legislation” in America is not because they don’t want to see the gun violence ended.

It’s because they know that Obama and his allies are the “give us an inch and we’ll take a mile” kind of people and the legislation Obama wants passed is only the first increment in the “disarming” of America.

If gun legislation was passed, there is no telling what would be “hidden” in the fine print that you would never know about until you “broke” a federal law you were not even aware of.

Just like the “tax increases” that were just passed are only the “first” installment of raises.

Next Obama will say that increasing the taxes of people making four hundred thousand dollars a year doesn’t “produce enough revenue” and it needs to be increased to include a “lower income bracket,” and then another until there are increases on every “productive citizen in America.

If he gets his first round of “gun control proposals,” he’ll be back and say that the first round didn’t go far enough and other “calibers and types of guns and ammunition” need to be banned

The upshot is that we can’t “trust” our elected officials to do what they say. They have “betrayed” our trust and America knows that if you “grant” them an ounce they will find a way to “take” the whole bucketful.

When I write an article like this, I usually have people ask me what we can do.

I’ll be honest; I’m not sure if we haven’t had our “last chance” for a long time to do anything about the direction Washington is taking, as the “entitlement” society grows exponentially by the day and will soon become the biggest “voting bloc” in the nation.

But one thing is for certain; America cannot continue to exist the way it’s going. The scale will eventually tip; all the dominos will fall and I only hope America has the strength left to pick up the pieces.

Be aware; be involved.
Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem.
God Bless America
