Dumb as Sea Sponges

Alexandria (Sandy) Ocasio-Cortez, the “lunatic” Latina bartender from the Bronx said “you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to take everything I say literally.”

In January, the “Green New Deal” firebrand said young people were worried “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”

“For some reason GOP seems to think this is a gaffe, but it’s actually a generational difference. Young people understand that climate change is an existential threat: 3,000 Americans died in Hurricane María. The UN says we’ve got 12 years left to fix it.” https://t.co/KzawP5oI1M https://t.co/xTjtM39cCL — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) January 22, 2019

In April, she “doubled” down when she invoked the “12-year deadline” again to stop the world ending “global warming”…

“We have twelve years left to cut emissions by at least 50% to stop the most devastating effects of climate change. For everyone who wants to make a joke about that, you may laugh, but your grand kids will not. So, understand that the internet documents everything. You know, you want to look about, you want to talk about looking at the back of history, looking backward. You look back and you open history books on the civil rights movement, and you see those folks who are protesting against the ability for African-Americans and black Americans to have the right to vote, and they would hold up these bigoted signs, and they would hold up signs that said things like ‘what about white rights?’ and all of this stuff, in the 1950s, 1960s. So just know that in the present day there a lot of people who hide the fact that their families and that their grandparents fought against principles of equal rights in the United States. Not 100 years ago, not 80 years ago, but in this generation’s lifetime. So just know that while a lot of people can hide that their grandparents did that in the civil rights movement, you should also know that the internet documents everything. And your grandchildren will not be able to hide the fact that you fought against acknowledging and taking bold action against climate change. And for those of you who are trying to mock and delay this moment, I mean, I just feel bad for you. I pity you for your role in history right now.”

A tweet pinned to the top of Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter profile two weeks later, again cites the “12-year deadline” along with a video showing how the world could progress if people would only “heed” such warnings and take them seriously.

“Climate change is here + we’ve got a deadline: 12 years left to cut emissions in half. A #GreenNewDeal is our plan for a world and a future worth fighting for. How did we get here? What is at stake? And where are we going? Please watch & share widely” pic.twitter.com/IMCtS86VXG — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 17, 2019

Now in a tweet Sandy implausibly claimed that the “12 years ’til doom” prediction was “dry humor” and that the GOP is too “stupid to grasp” her wittiness:

“This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and ‘fact check’ it. Like the ‘world ending in 12 years’ thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows.” https://t.co/pmkwrdeAnq — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) May 12, 2019

But those responsible for the 2018 UN report on climate change, from which Ocasio-Cortez drew her “12 years left” conclusion, did not consider their work to be an attempt at “dry humor.”

Alexandria (Sandy) Ocasio-Cortez diving for dumb sea sponges.

Who else of the top “Democrats” running for president in 2020 invoked the “12 years left” talking points as a sign of how seriously they took “climate change” to build support among the environmental left and are as “dumb as sea sponges”:

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey “The supposed “12-year deadline” is embedded in the Green New Deal, which Ocasio-Cortez and I introduced in February. The bill calls for a complete transformation of the U.S. economy within 10 years based on the 2018 UN report.”

New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker “When it comes to environmental issues, climate change, we have 12 years,” he said in April at the “She the People” forum in Houston, Texas.

Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders warned “we have all of 12 years to significantly cut carbon emissions or else there will be irreparable damage to the United States and countries all over the world.” Sanders co-sponsored the Senate version of the “Green New Deal.”

Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris also used the “12-year talking point”, warning of “severe consequences” if nothing is done to fight global warming. “Every day we fail to act will be to our collective consequence. The UN has already said over the next 12 years if we don’t get this straight there will be severe consequences” Harris said in a CNN town hall held in April.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the current front-runner, warned in January that the U.N. “told us, whether you agree with the exact number, that we have 12 years to act before it’s irreversible.”

Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke also invoked the 12-year deadline and warned of the “10 years we have left to us to fight global warming.”

Ocasio-Cortez proclamation that the “12 years ’til doom” prediction was “dry humor and that the GOP is too stupid to grasp her wittiness” is another ridiculous statement.

Having been “mocked” all over the Internet and unable to “defend” the absurdity, she is actually digging a “deeper hole” for herself, trying to maintain the “self-righteousness” that seems to power her drive for “stupid nonsense.”

When she spoke in public last January about her claim of “12 years to escape doom” nobody laughed. Her audience clearly did not think it was a “joke” and she did not pause for laughter at the punch line.

When she doubled down in April on Instagram, again without a trace of a “smile or humor”, the only mention of laughter was her explicit “denial” of any humor when she quipped “For everyone who wants to make a joke about that, you may laugh, but your grand kids will not.”

Sandy is shaming people who “disagree” with her, claiming that history and their heirs will “judge” them harshly for laughing. And now she wants to “claim she was joking?”

If she is claiming it’s “dry humor” to say 12 years are left before doom, then she is also “mocking” the 2018 U.N. report from whose conclusion she extracted her “12 years” prediction.  This makes her a “denier” if her claim of humor is taken seriously.

This “uneducated and financially illiterate” bartender is simply not used to being called to account for the “stupid” things she says.

Having lived her “sheltered” bartender adult life as a “fit, busty, average looking female with some college dance moves” she can get away with spouting all “sorts of nonsense” and at least the males around her will “nod, approve or sympathize” with her plight.

This “dumber then sea sponges” quote is a very bad sign of her ability to pull off her act beyond “one term” in Congress.  Blaming your own “stupidity” on other people’s inability to grasp your “sophistication” doesn’t play well.

Alexandria “Sandy” Ocasio-Cortez is a classic cultural “Marxist” watermelon environmentalist: “Green on the inside, Red on the outside.”

10. Sea sponges, unlike Alexandria “Sandy” Ocasio-Cortez, are animals which neither have a central nervous system nor a brain.

9. They are found on the floor of the ocean attaching them leaves to solid rocks. They do not have the ability move around.

8. Sea sponges appear as dark in water as they have a dark membrane that covers them which is like a skin for them. This gives them good cover for the skeleton.

7. They are able to reproduce by coupling up with other sea sponges. A male sperm is ejected by the male and is caught by the female and the fertilization of her eggs begins. When they are ready tiny larvae are ejected and they settle on the ocean floor and will grow into sea sponges.

6. They feed by consuming water, ocean particles and plankton and then filtering the water out and swallowing the food that they need.

5. Sea sponges get their oxygen from the flowing water.

4. Around the world there are around 5000 species of sea sponge that exist.

3. They have amazing powers of regeneration and have the ability to reform parts of the bodies that get broken off. Even more mind blowing, the pieces that are broken off can also settle somewhere else and form into a clone of their parent sponge.

2. When they are harvested, those collecting them leave the roots intact so that they can regenerate and grow back to their original form.

1. When they are not harvested they have a lifespan of around 10 years in the wild.
